geek – a – palooza 2015

In September of 2015 we co-hosted a truly unique networking event for the electronics industry. According to founder Tara Dunn of OmniPCB, Geek - a - Palooza is a social networking event for all of the electronics “geeks” that focuses on expanding resources, building relationships and bringing every aspect of the local electronics industry together.

We had a great time planning this event as there were many different event elements in play. We assisted in creating marketing materials, selling sponsorships, and soliciting vendors to add a fun and geeky vibe to the event.

The whole idea behind Geek - a - Palooza is about reconnecting in the industry and getting out behind the computer screen. This event not only allows sponsors to meet with their current and potential customers face-to-face in a fun and friendly atmosphere, but it also allows attendees to get out of work and have some fun with their industry peers.

In addition to sponsor tables we wanted to add an element of fun to the event so attendees could cut loose and enjoy each others company. The ring toss for booze was a huge hit, and everyone walked away from that table with a smile on their face. Sticking with the geek theme, we also had local “nerd” brewery, Tin Whiskers, serving up their tasty beers, and chatting about their experiences in the industry.

The University of Minnesota Robotics team was also on hand to demonstrate their new robotic technology. Guests had a great time talking shop and testing out the robots. They also had the opportunity to see some of the up and coming talent from Bethlehem Academy, who were showcasing their 3D LED Heart. The demonstration showed the flow of the bloodstream in the heard via LED lights. Very cool!

To top it all off, zooming over everyone’s heads was a drone, capturing all of the fun and excitement throughout the event. To catch some of the action, check out the video! We had a great time at this event and look forward to geeking out next year!

em.my events gets a facelift

Hello em.my events fans! After a long hiatus of getting a full time job, quitting said job, getting married and getting a new house, em.my events is back! Revamping my business has already been quite the journey, with a long road still ahead. I wanted to share a little bit of what has been going on, and what is to come, on the first em.my events blog post at our new website!
